The structure of our Short Term Accommodation service has changed recently with the introduction of set activities to support community involvement and interaction between guests at the houses. The Short Term Accommodation activities have been successfully running over the past months and have seen our guests head to the Yarra Valley, live theatre and partake in rounds of mini golf just to name a few. These activities also incorporate learning travel skills such as how to top up a myki and understanding a train timetable. Within the home environment, guests are supported to learn how to complete chores around the house such as planning for and doing the grocery shopping, and how to do their own laundry. All this happens while making new friends in a safe and supported environment.

Sam and Tom have become friends while staying in our Short Term Accommodation together and recently enjoyed a trip to ACMI! The men set off together with a staff member and navigated their way to the train station and then to ACMI from Flinders Street. These activities are always much more enjoyable when the experience is shared.
