Covid19 lock downs meant many hours at home with family for Daniel as it did for so many of us. Daniel and his mother Michelle spent many of these creating beautiful artworks together. At first Daniel would only spend a few moments working on his pieces but as his confidence and skills grew he would spend more and more time creating his art. Daniel’s mother Michelle would then share these artworks with the Bayley House community with photos on the Bayley House Facebook group formed to help people stay in touch through lock downs. When describing the work Daniel has contributed to this exhibition and his engagement in creating it she said, “…the theme of this exhibition is “connection” and I thought that this piece that Daniel worked on could be appropriate as we need our brains to connect, and Daniels is connected differently- Autism is a puzzle that is not yet abled to be solved , but, connections can be taught and learned as Daniel has proved to us.”
