This piece is an ode to Jacqui’s mother’s baking and her experiences in going to the cafe with her aunty and father for a muffin and hot chocolate. Jacqui associated family and time spent together with baking and shared cafe trips. In a related piece not being exhibited Jacqui also painted herself and her mother eating cake together, Jacqui gifted this piece to her mother. Jacqui experimented with incorporating text into her piece and layered acrylic paints to depict her cake.
