Commercial Connections

Recently we received a beautiful call from the daughter of one of our former volunteers. Glenda Bailey remembers her mum speaking so fondly of her time with Bayley House and wanted to see if she could contribute in some way.

Glenda is Director of Harvey Norman Commercial which holds an annual lunch at Flemington Racecourse to say thank you to staff, suppliers and partners. Due to COVID, this was the first races day back in years and as they raise money for a charity, Glenda chose Bayley House to be the recipient this year; so we were invited to join a fun day at the races.

It was a buzzing event with over 400 people on the day. Bayley House donated some work created by our talented artists to be auctioned off and altogether $15,000 was raised.

However, it doesn’t stop there. We invited Glenda to come and visit the near complete Bayley Arts as there was so much interest in our artwork. Glenda was amazed at the space and the vision and immediately offered to update the kitchen with new appliances and equipment. She also offered to support us with any white goods needed and fortunately we had her on our side when our freezer broke down at one of the residential services literally a few days later. We had a sparkling new freezer by the end of the day.

It just goes to show the impact that volunteering can have and we are so grateful to have strong partnerships like Harvey Norman Commercial. Thank you Glenda!
