Aiming high and working towards goals.

Rosie recently began work experience at Coles Bay Street, this is something she has wanted to achieve for a very long time and now, with support she is settling into her new role. Bayley House staff member, Sam has a contact at Coles in Bay St Brighton, who was happy for Rosie to trial working for an hour on a voluntary basis each week, with the potential of the arrangement becoming paid work once Rosie has some experience. Sam supported Rosie for her first shift earlier this month, and was overcome with emotion at the sight of Rosie scanning items with such skill, and the sense of pride it filled her with.

The photos speak for themselves!

Our Community Engagement program is gaining even more momentum with regular volunteers returning to their posts. Angus has reconnected with Pete and the team at Mitre 10, Caulfield in recent weeks. It’s been a lengthy absence but you wouldn’t know it, as Angus slipped seamlessly back into his role.

Sarah resumed at Timbuktu Cafe this afternoon and set a cracking pace from the outset. There were dishes to stack, cutlery to dry, floors to sweep and water jugs to fill.

Hayley enjoys assisting to create environmentally friendly bags each week at Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre. She also likes to personally deliver them to Amy and Co at Sunnybrook Health Store in Ormond. So perhaps drop in for some healthy treats and pick yourself up a FREE bag made from upcycled materials while you’re at it.
