Every year the Bayley House end of year concert brings our community together in a way nothing else can. The room fills with music, pride and pure joy as the people we support step on stage and share their talents with friends and families.

For Brendan, this moment is everything.

His mum Helen explains that performing in the concert has always been the highlight of his year. It is something he starts preparing for months in advance. It fills him with purpose and brings enormous joy to his whole family.

Brendan lives with cerebral palsy along with visual and hearing impairments. Music has become one of the most powerful ways he communicates. When he is drumming at rehearsals he lights up. When he performs on stage you can feel the pride ripple through the room.

But right now, programs like the ones that support Brendan are under real pressure.

The reality behind the celebration
