Connection and Recognition: Celebrating our staff

Around Bayley In the Community News & Events

It was with much excitement that Bayley House recently took part in the Melbourne Connection Expo at the Melbourne Convention Centre.

The Melbourne Connection Expo is hosted by Developing Australian Communities and saw an incredible 6000 visitors across two days! With 200 stalls showcasing their services, it was a great opportunity to position ourselves within the community, meet new people and share how Bayley House can provide support. A number of our staff members took part in the expo and met with many members of the general public as well as other service providers.

Who is Developing Australian Communities?

Developing Australian Communities is an organisation who believe that by working closely with Service Providers, Carers and Participants through their many events will ensure that the much-needed change in the disability sector will be provided for the betterment of the services in our sector.

The two day expo was celebrated with the Melbourne Disability Recognition Awards. The awards evening was held at Crown Palladium and this year was a major fundraiser for Paralympics Australia, with special guest speaker Tim Ferguson. A number of Bayley House staff members were nominated on the evening, as well as Bayley House as a whole being nominated for the Team Award. The Team Award is ‘presented to the most outstanding NDIS provider team that displays exceptional service to participants in the disability sector. This will be a close-knit team, which is constantly raising the bar and have a natural click and team energy. They may be professionals delivering face-to-face programs, internal stars, project groups or committees or exceptional staff teams working with participants.’ While Bayley House did not take out the coveted award, the nomination recognition was incredible.

There was much celebration later in the evening as our very own Caroline Glass won Support Worker of the Year! The category for Support Worker of the Year is described as ‘All Support Workers are amazing in what they do. It is a specialist area not many people are well suited to or even understand. This award will go to the support worker deemed to have achieved great results, who went above and beyond and showed true professional excellence with supporting others.’ Congratulations to Caroline on this exceptional win. We extend our congratulations to all who were nominated on the night and recognised at this wonderful event.

Thanks to Developing Australian Communities for hosting these two incredible events, it was fantastic to join our peers, and introduce many new people to Bayley House while also celebrating the wonderful industry in which we work.
