Celebrating client milestones

At this year’s Client Recognition Awards, Simon proudly received his 40-year award, giving us the opportunity to reflect on his remarkable time at Bayley House.

Simon’s time at Bayley House has included many different experiences, from starting in what was once known as the workshop, to crafting products in woodwork, volunteering at Brighton Recreational Centre, and now building work skills at Brighton Auto. His story reflects the confidence, connections and skills that can develop when the right support, encouragement and opportunities are in place.

Recognising effort, commitment and achievement over time is at the heart of the Client Recognition Awards, which were introduced in 2011 by a core group of Bayley House clients who advocated for these milestones to be shared and celebrated. Initially, the awards acknowledged clients who had been part of Bayley House for 25 years or more. Over time, they expanded to recognise milestones from 10 years onwards.

These awards are a reminder of the deep connections formed across the Bayley House community. They recognise the time clients have spent working towards goals, learning new skills, building friendships and contributing in ways that are meaningful to them.

As Bayley House celebrates its 75th year, the longevity of our clients is a testament to the quality and continuity of support provided over many years. These awards celebrate the experiences, skills, relationships and support networks developed along the way.

It was wonderful to see so many families, friends and carers attend and share in the celebration. We are grateful to the families who have helped their loved ones be part of Bayley House, and to everyone who continues to encourage each client’s achievements and milestones. These awards would not be possible without our invaluable Family and Friends group who generously support these awards
