Footy Day Returns!

Around Bayley

Nothing was going to stop Footy Day this year.

Footy Day has always been a much anticipated date on the Bayley House calendar. A day where everyone wears their footy colours, a day of party pies and a sausage sizzle, a day that we had all been waiting for.

The weather forecast did not look good, with heavy rain the night before. But the next morning, the grey clouds parted and some of the ground dried out just enough for Footy Day 2022 to commence. Like years gone by, the day commenced with everyone running through the banner, accompanied by special guest, James Newbury MP who was being initiated into our famous Footy Day.

Contenders were soon lining up for the annual Footy Day Gift:

  • Donny Cini Gift Run (Males) won by Charles
  • Judith O Gift Run (Females) won by Teresa
  • Tony Devine Electric Chair Gift Run (Open) won by Amelia

The day is capped off with the Andy Tanojevic Super Kick, which this year was won by John, you can see his epic punt on our facebook page.

This year we were joined by a number of special guests and volunteers who all made sure that the day ran smoothly. Bayside Hockey set up a hockey skills area for those wanting to have a go, Carlton AFLW player Phoebe McWilliams hung out for the day and gave us a terrific demonstration on how to absolutely boot a footy, AFL Vic set up a skills clinic which everyone loved and friend of Bayley House, Brendan Fevola joined us even though he couldn’t have a kick due to injury. Thanks also to South Melbourne Districts Footy Club for the prize donations and equipment on loan.

Massive thanks to our staff, who made sure the day went ahead and that everyone had a great time.
