CEO Update 5 October

Daylight savings are upon us and, if you are anything like me, you see that as a sign that summer is on the way and with it the opportunity for extended warm evenings and social activities. COVID might have dented our confidence as to what Christmas and summer holidays will mean but let’s look forward at least to some semblance of recreation that will be available to us. 

Victorian Roadmap

The Victorian Roadmap to Recovery provides the broad basis to the easing of COVID restrictions across Victoria and the means by which our community will increasingly manage to ‘live with COVID’ as our economy and activities start to open and rebuild.  The Roadmap is based on anticipated vaccination targets being realized and therefore the dates are subject to change.  For the purposes of planning ahead I am delighted to advise that from Tuesday October 26th, 2021 – 

• Middle Crescent full program will recommence 
• Community, Leisure and Recreation activities will expand (subject to remaining restrictions on some community services and facilities) 

If government target timeframes change with an impact on these arrangements we will advise you accordingly. 

Please note that Bayley House Short Stay services remain operational and are provided with close attention to COVID safety. 

Mandatory Vaccinations

State Government last week announced a list of employment categories for which COVID vaccination will be mandatory.  The list includes disability support.  Bayley House has been in contact with all our staff yesterday to advise them of the process in place to ensure we are fully compliant with these new arrangements which require all staff to have had at least their first vaccination by October 15th, 2021 and second vaccination by November 26th, 2021. 

Director of Philanthropy & Fundraising

Shaun Spence commenced this week in the role of Director of Philanthropy & Fundraising.  Shaun has experience in both the philanthropy and disability sectors and his most recent experience was Philanthropy Lead at Beyond Blue.  We are thrilled to welcome Shaun to the Bayley House family and look forward to him having the opportunity to meet with many members of that extended family in coming weeks.
