Philip enjoys working across a wide range of creative mediums. In this years exhibition, Philip has contributed pieces of abstract painting and textile but whilst he’s not working on exhibition pieces, he develops drawings and sketches in his sketch book. Whilst a quiet artist at work, he is always proud to display his artwork and has been a keen contributor to all our annual exhibitions. He enjoys bold design, pattern and a strong colour palette. This year pattern and abstract applications of colour and paint have inspired his art making.

Artist Bio

Inspired by Sharron Cooper Murray, Philip created this textile artwork by cutting strips of coloured fabric and knotting them through a wire frame. The repetative work kept Philip focused as he concentrated hard to pinch the fabric through the holes and knot the two ends together. Philip consulted his extended family to name his work, proudly showing them a photograph of himself hard at work. They all agreed the piece should be named after him and added the word ‘collection’ in the hope of more pieces to come.
