Artist Bio

This piece was inspired by the weaving, textiles and colour of artist Sharon Cooper Murray. Murray’s work connects to the preservation of Gullah culture and rag quilting techniques with Diana and Julia were able to experience through this art making process. Diana and Julia explored textiles through touch and enjoyed seeing many colours and pieces of materials in piles together. The two artists came together with their supporting staff to use touch, vocalisation and gesture to select each piece of material or wool and the resulting work is textured and colourful.
