Bayley Arts Update

We are all eagerly awaiting the commencement of Bayley Arts which is located at 1 Avoca St, Highett.

As the building industry continues to be impacted by labour and material shortages, in turn we continue to wait for building works to be finalised so we can commence running a varied range of exciting art themed programs at Bayley Arts. Exciting News

  • We have been very fortunate in securing funding to support the appointment of Susanne Ciavatta – Bayley Arts Community Engagement Manager. Susanne has had extensive experience in the realm of community arts, working with Bayside City Council and in the Northern territory. Susanne is actively networking with the local arts community seeking partnership opportunities and encouraging hire of the Formal Gallery and related studio spaces.
  • We have been very fortunate in securing funding to support the appointment of a Marketing Co-ordinator for Bayley Arts that will assist in embedding Bayley Arts as a leading edge fit for purpose Community Art space.
  • In Term 2, a number of Bayley Arts programs will be implemented at Middle Crescent in order to commence the Bayley Arts experience; while we await completion of building works. Term 2 activities include:
    • Textiles
    • Sustainable Art and Printing Projects with external professional Artists
    • Work beginning on producing art for the Annual Bayley Arts Exhibition
  • Connections have occurred with Arts organisations, artists and peak bodies to support future works and projects at the hub.
  • Some tangible outcomes to date include: a donation of contemporary art books to stock our library, furniture purchased for each studio space, movable walls are currently being constructed that will occupy the Gallery, and an accessible lift is currently being installed to support access for all artists.
