Blooming with Bunnings

A recent donation from Bunnings has seen the green thumbs in our White house bring their garden beds to life.

Earlier this year, Program Manager, Jolanda connected Jane, the Activity Organiser at Bunnings Moorabbin with our staff member, Richard. Richard explained that we needed some help with transitioning our garden from summer to winter and asked if there was any advice she could give. The group sent photos of their garden to Jane so she could get an idea of what would be required.

Jane offered more than advice and came back to the group with the offer of a donation of plants that would help to bring their winter garden to life. The group took part in a planting session that involved learning about the types of plants, why they were suitable for the winter season and how to look after them.

Everyone happily took part in the planting process, carefully removing the young plants from their pots to preserve the roots and then choosing space in the raised garden beds. The day proved to be very insightful with everyone learning a little bit more about how to care for the plants.

The garden beds look fantastic and with the guidance received, will now be able to withstand the upcoming winter. Jane has also offered to come back at the start of each season so the group can learn more about different plant types and garden care.
