Highlights from our Vulnerable Beneficiaries Information Session

Gifts in Wills

The Bayley House Foundation recently hosted a highly informative and engaging information session designed to support families planning for the future care and financial security of a loved one with a disability or other vulnerabilities.

The session was opened by our CEO Deb Stuart, who welcomed guests and reflected on the importance of planning ahead to protect the long-term wellbeing of loved ones. Deb then invited Damian Dalton, Chair of Bayley House Foundation, to speak about the Foundation’s role in supporting Bayley House’s sustainability and why conversations like these are so critical for families. Damian’s introduction set the stage for an afternoon of practical insights and future-focused thinking.

We were thrilled to welcome guest speaker Jennifer Jackson, Head of Estate Planning at Wills & Wealth. Drawing on over 15 years of experience working with families across Australia, Jennifer shared clear, thoughtful guidance on estate planning including the steps parents and carers can take to protect and empower a loved one requiring additional support.

Jennifer explored a range of important topics, including how to structure an inheritance to minimise risk and protect government entitlements, the key differences between types of protective trusts, and the specific benefits of Special Disability Trusts — such as preserving the disability support pension and offering tax and stamp duty concessions.

Attendees left the session with a stronger understanding of how to take confident, informed steps in their estate planning. The afternoon also fostered valuable discussions, highlighting just how important and prevalent these concerns are within our community.

A warm thank you to everyone who joined us. Bayley House Foundation will continue sourcing information resources and inviting a range of expert presenters to support families’ estate planning journeys.
