ExxonMobil lends a hand
22nd of October 2008
Volunteers from ExxonMobil spent a day at Bayley House on Wednesday 15 October as part of their Day of Caring program.
Our Step Aerobics squad, the 'Step-On-Its' soon had them warmed up when the volunteers joined them for a Step Aerobics session which tested their fitness level and coordination skills. From there it was onto the Art room and the contract area where the volunteers worked with our people to help make Christmas Cards, complete contract work and clean out the Woodwork store area.
The day was a great success - for Bayley House and the ExxonMobil volunteers. Whilst the volunteers gained a better understanding of people with an intellectual disability Bayely House benefitted with more than 300 large Christmas cards and about 100 small gift cards being produced. This would normmaly have taken us around 2-3 weeks to do! The cards will be sold to raise funds for Bayley House.
At the same time our woodwork store rooms were cleaned out . The store areas housed many wooden toys and other items which the volunteers cleaned and packed into boxes. These toys are now ready to be given away to children's charities to use as gifts. A large number of our contract jobs were also completed with the assistance of the volunteers.
This is the fourth year that Bayley House has been involved in the Day of Caring. Thank you to all our ExxonMobil volunteers and United Way for coordinating the program.
