Bayley House involved in the Brighton Bayside Art Show
11th of August 2009
Over twenty pieces of artwork painted by 17 clients from Bayley House were on exhibited at the Brighton Town Hall as part of the Porsche Centre Brighton Bayside Art Show between 6-8 August.
The 39th Brighton Bayside Art Show was presented by the Rotary Club of Brighton, in conjunction with the Brighton Recreational Centre. Both are keen supporters of Bayley House. Thanks to support their support clients from Bayley House were invited to submit artwork for inclusion in the show.
“There were some fantastic pieces of work produced by the Art Program at Bayley House but there has been few opportunities to exhibit the publically. The Rotary Club of Brighton has strong links with Bayley House and felt that the Brighton Bayside Art Show would be an ideal way to showcase the artwork to the local community.” said David Efron, Past President of the Brighton Rotary Club.
The comprehensive Art Program offered by Bayley House enables clients to become involved in activities such as painting, ceramics, tapestry, beading, card making, collage, mosaic tile work and much, much more. It stimulates the imagination, promotes creativity and allows clients to express thoughts and feelings through the different forms of art.
The artwork on display at the Brighton Bayside Art Show was painted in art sessions held over the past 12 months. Like each piece of work presented, each of the artists has his or her own story. Several also have a physical disability that they have to overcome in order to produce their artwork. One individual is legally blind and another is deaf. Some have difficulty performing painting tasks that require fine motor skills or problems that impact on their ability to blend colours, create 3D images or reflect spatial awareness. All love art and are proud that their work is on display.
